Additional SuperannuationWith salary packaging, you can use funds from your pre-tax salary to make additional contributions to your superannuation. This not only reduces your taxable income, meaning you save on tax, but could also boost your retirement nest egg.

Your employer already makes regular superannuation contributions on your behalf as part of your standard salary, but making additional superannuation contributions can go a long way.


What exactly can I package?

Most people can package up to $25,000 a year (including your employer's 9.25% contribution) without incurring any tax penalties.

As of 1 July 2017, the annual cap for concessional contributions cap was reduced to $25,000 per annum for all individuals, regardless of age.

Up until 30 June 2017, the annual concessional contributions cap is $30,000 for those aged under 50, and $35,000 for those over 50.

The temporary higher cap is not indexed and will cease when the general concessional contributions cap is indexed to $35,000. Please refer to www.ato.gov.au for up to date information.

aged care from a registered disability or aged care provider, for a parent, partner or dependent who requires nursing care due to old age or physical or mental disability.

  • private or public not-for-profit hospital
  • charity or other not-for-profit organisation
  • private school, club, association or religious institution.

By packaging your child care fees, you could
reduce your taxable income and save on tax. Plus, with RemServ, you can set up regular ongoing contributions from your pre-tax salary directly to
your child care provider - so we take care of the payments for you.

What exactly can I package?

You could salary package your child care fees, as long as the child care facility is a registered provider.

There are two types of child care fees:

  • non-employer owned

This could be a privately owned child care facility or one that is managed by your local council.

  • in-house provider

This is a child-care facility which is operated in-house by your employer.

It's best to check with your employer to understand which type of child care fees you are eligible to salary package.

Note: Salary packaging child care fees may affect your entitlement to government benefits as salary packaging can affect the gross value of your salary. We recommend you seek independent financial advice to determine if salary packaging is right for you.

Fly-In, Fly-Out

2.4.8 Fly In Fly Out_090827 Maxxia - 141_265 x 165If you work in a remote area, you may be eligible to salary package the cost of airfares to and from your usual place of residence to your workplace with the Remote Area Assistance Fly-In, Fly-Out benefit.

What exactly can I package?

Where your employer offers the Fly-In, Fly-Out benefit, you are authorised to incur the cost of the flights on your employer's behalf, for which you will be recompensed. You will nominate an amount for your employer to deduct each pay. Then, when it's time for you to pay for an airfare, simply submit a claim form with the invoices to RemServ and, within three to five business days of receipt, we will credit the money into your account or pay the supplier for the airfares directly.

Note: the airfares must not be in respect of your associates, family or friends. The airfares must not be for holidays.

Employees who work in a remote area away from their usual place of residence whose employer offers this benefit.
