Want to save on meals from your favourite restaurants? With the Meal Entertainment benefit, you could save hundreds of dollars each year.
Whether it’s a family celebration, a catch-up with friends or treating the tribe to a pub meal, you’ll love Meal Entertainment. Whether you dine out a little or a lot, with this popular salary packaging benefit you could spend up to $2,650 in pre-tax dollars on meals with those closest to you.
Meal Entertainment is in addition to our everyday living expense benefits like mortgage or rent and does not affect the claiming of these benefits in any way. This means your taxable income could go down even further, your disposable income could go up even higher, and with some of these meal expenses already taken care of, you could have more money for dining out more often.
So if you’re having a dinner celebration or a bite out with friends, why not salary package the cost and save?
As Meal Entertainment is a benefit that can be packaged in addition to any existing caps you have, you can savour the pre-tax savings even more.
How much though, we hear you ask?
Let’s say you work in health and you earn $75,000 per year. If you packaged to your full benefit – that is, $9,010 in living expenses and $2,650 in Meal Entertainment – you could enjoy $915 of pre-tax savings on Meal Entertainment.
Don’t go out so much? You can still benefit. Let’s change your yearly Meal Entertainment allocation to, say, $1,000: you could still enjoy $345 in pre-tax savings.
It really is money for jam. Well maybe not jam, but definitely your parma or steak at the local. Or wagyu when you take it up a notch.
Dine out a little or a lot, you could still benefit
Meal Entertainment allows you to spend up to a maximum of $2,650, but there’s nothing to say you need to use it all up, some of us eat out more than others!
So, you can kick back after that delicious meal knowing that you’re doing more with your money, no matter how often you eat out.
The RemServ Wallet card makes it easy
The RemServ Wallet is a smartcard loaded with your Meal Entertainment money, no claiming, no invoices — you just tap and go like you would with your bankcard. It’s about as simple as salary packaging gets, which is why it’s also one of the most popular ways to package Meal Entertainment.
The RemServ Wallet puts your Meal Entertainment money in your hands.
Already have a RemServ Wallet card for your living expenses? We’ll just add Meal Entertainment to your existing card, no need for a new one, how easy is that.
How much should I deduct each pay for Meal Entertainment?
As we’ve said above, Meal Entertainment could benefit you no matter how often you eat out and there’s nothing to say you need to use all the $2,650 each year.
So, how often do you eat-out? Even if it’s $50 a fortnight, you can start with that and increase or decrease whenever you like, like a taste test. If you’re unsure just ask us and we’ll chew the fat with you about your Meal Entertainment options.
