What is novated leasing?
Novated leasing is a workplace benefit offered by many Australian employers. It could allow you to lease a car and pay for it with some of your before-tax salary.
Ordinarily, employment income is taxed before it hits your bank account. With a novated lease, your car repayments and running costs could be paid from a combination of pre-and post-tax salary (or all pre-tax salary for eligible EVs). This means you could pay less income tax and benefit from more of your salary! Novated leasing may also allow you to bundle not only your lease payments but your car’s running costs – including charging or petrol, insurance, rego, tyres, carwashes and servicing – into one convenient regular payment.
